The Billboard Hollywood party is a key part of the new years eve celebrations in the USA, providing the west coast element to a new year party that starts in Times Square, in the heart of New York City, and travels across several different time zones to arrive in California 3 hours later, shown live on TV and via the online stream across all of the country.

The Hollywood party is part of the ABC new year programming that runs in parallel with the iconic Dick Clark's New Year Rockin' Eve (NYRE) party that culminates in the famous new York ball drop that is watched around the world. Watching the ball drop is often a feature of new years eve events on the west coast, something to kill the time while they wait for their own new year to arrive several hours later.

The Billboard Hollywood Party has been part of the NYRE party since new years eve 2006/07 and consists of pre-recorded sections by big name artists from a studio in Los Angeles that are then broadcast throughout the evening as part of the main ABC new years eve show. This year

The LA contingent is hosted by D-Nice and performances from Wiz Khalifa, Finneas, Dove Cameron, Armani White, Betty Who and Nicky Youre.
