Little Rock is packed with activities, so best pack a pair of
trainers/sneakers! Get out there and explore Big Dam Bridge, jump on
a bike and cycle your way along The Arkansas River Trail, an 88 mile
loop around the state, or perhaps you might want to begin with the
15.6 mile loop starting at Clinton Presidential Bridge to Big Dam
Bridge and around back to the Clinton Presidential Bridge (if you're
not a keen cyclist, you can always walk it!).
There's great hiking trails in Pinnacle Mountain State Park, climb to the top of the mountain (there are 2 trails, family friendly West Summit and the challenging East Summit) for some glorious panoramic views. It's also a great place to bring your bike with a few mountain bike trails to choose from.
If you happen to be a lover of the arts, then you might want to head along to the Robinson Center on 20th December for the Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker. There are also lots of museums to peruse during your stay like the Historic Arkansas Museum, Arkansas Arts Center and Museum Of Discovery.
The architecture in Little Rock is fantastic, so make sure to visit historically prolific places like the Arkansas State Capitol, Old StateHouse Museum and Little Rock Central High School which you can explore via a reserved tour that takes you through the school's history and its stormy participation in the Civil Rights Movement.
Wander along to the River Market to explore the antique stores and visit the Ottenheimer Market Hall for some wonderful food. There are speciality foods and artisan treats to be had here, so come hungry!
Take a tour around the Rock Town Distillery (the state's first legal distillery since prohibition) there are tours every day with little taster thrown in there too if you are over 21!
There is also the River Rail Electric Streetcar that you can hop on to see many of Little Rocks landmarks.
Many of the hotels in Little Rock offer fantastic events, look to
the Downtown Marriot for its annual event which has great live music
and entertainment, Crowne Plaza Little Rock with live music or The
Empress Hotel for it's annual New Year Bash. If you head down to
Cajun's Wharf, they also have a New Years event with champagne toast
The River Market is a great place for Bars and restaurants and a lively evening, so pop down there and check with venues closer to the time for special events!
If you are looking for something indoors and a little more romantic, then stop by the beautiful Capital Hotel Bar Mezzanine for a glass or two of the bubbly stuff.
Many restaurants will have special New Years Eve menus and will be reservations only, so don't leave it too long to book.
