If you are looking for something to do for New Years Eve in Baku, then the capital city of Azerbaijan brings you a vibrant and lively place to celebrate.

Very much an up and coming tourist destination, with new architechtural marvels appearing at a rapid rate as the city cultivates it's growing reputation, and develops a skyline on the coast of the Caspian Sea that rivals many more well established destinations.

Come new years eve, Baku comes to life with seasonal festivals and fairs organised to entertain visitors and locals alike, while the city's range of high level hotel accommodation offers a high level of luxury at relatively affordable prices.

Baku New Years Eve Fireworks

Join the crowds as they gather to watch the fireworks light up the city skyline, including the modern sites of the Azerbaijan Tower, Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center, Baku Crystal Hall, Baku White City, SOCAR Tower and of course the the fabulous Flame Towers, which offers a truly scenic backdrop for the pyrotechnics.

Head down to the Baku Boulevard, stretching from Azadliq Square to National Flag Square to watch the show, which gets underway at midnight.

There are many high buildings to head for if you would like an elevated fireworks view, with the Baku Panoramic View observation deck an obvious choice, while hotels with the best views include the JW Marriott, HIlton Park Inn or Fairmont Flame towers.

Baku - Fountain Square Fair

Available throughout the festive season, from the beginning of December right through until mid January, the charity fair in Fountain Square provides a focal point for the Baku celebrations, with exhibitions, a winter wonderland of Christmas tree and lights, food, drink and regular entertainment.

Shahdag Skiing Complex NYE Party

You do need to head a little out of town for this one, but there are readily available transfers around and the party is worth the trip, in Azerbaijan's very first ski resort. As well as skiing there is usually a New Years Eve Gala Dinner in the resort, where you can greet the new year with music, fine dining and dancing - once announced details should be here.

Hotels with a view are very much the order of the day on Baku, and with most of the top establishments also hosting their own NYE events you can cover all your party and accommodation needs in one place if so desired.

A top recommendation would have to be the Fairmont Baku Flame Towers, where you not only have fabulous panoramic views but just need to step out of the front door to find a cableway that will transport you down to the seafront boulevard in a matter of minutes.
