Annapolis celebrates new years eve with a big public party and 2 different fireworks displays, an event that replaces the First Night Annapolis event that was the highlight of the new year celebrations here for many years.

Annapolis as a new years eve destination has increased further in recent years since the capital city of Washington DC stopped holding their annual new year fireworks display on the National Mall, as now anyone in the DC area who wants to see some new year fireworks has to travel, and with all the added historic attractions, Annapolis is a very popular choice.

Annapolis New Years Eve

The Annapolis new years eve party is the celebration that has taken over from First Night Annapolis, but still sees in the new year in fine style.

There is the family friendly event at Susan Campbell Park with kids activites and bands from 4 - 5.20pm with the fireworks over the harbour at 5.30pm.

The main celebrations then move on into the evening, with crowds heading down to City Dock. There is a fireworks display set off by the mayor at midnight. We're just waiting on confirmation for this year's event.

The Military Bowl

College football is a key part of the holiday schedule for many Americans, and here in Annapolis you have the option to go out and enjoy the Military Bowl game at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

Teams and broadcast details for this year to follow, although it is typically shown live on ESPN.
