Over the years I have read so many books with Virginia at it's heart, albeit
most of them are from Patricia Cornwell, but the description of this
state have always given me a sense of romance, from it's tree lined
streets to the snow capped mountains.
Virginia, rich in culture and heritage, is a south eastern state with Richmond as its' capital, stretching from the Chesapeake Bay all the way to the Appalachian Mountains.
This is the kind of place that I would love to visit, locations like Richmond, Virginia Beach, Charlottesville, Chesapeake, Lexingon etc. I would be hard pressed to pick one particular place, but Richmond is probably top of my list, purely because I'm a Scarpetta fan!
Virginia is a hotbed of events come New Year and boasts 8 First
Night celebrations across the state, so depending where you are,
head to these 8 locations to join in the entertainment, including
live music, kids entertainment, street performers and so much more,
in an alcohol free environment which is perfect for family friendly
First Night Virginia, in Charlottesville, head to the Downtown Mall for live music, entertainment, story telling, magicians, street performers and of course fireworks.
First Night Alexandria - Old Town Alexandria is transformed for New Year into a performance hub for everyone to enjoy. The fireworks are on the Pontomac river, so being close to the river come midnight would be a great spot to see the display.
First Night Winchester - Festivities kick off at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley and go on throughout the day across Winchester. Don't miss the apple drop and fireworks at the intersection of Boscawen and Cameron Streets.
First Night Williamsburg - Head to the Merchant Square area for an array of performing arts, and see in the new year at Mary's Zable Stadium for the fireworks!
First Night Fredericksburg - Head to historic down town Fredericksburg for all the new year entertainment and performances, culminating in the finale at Riverfront Park for the fireworks display.
First Night Vienna - It's all happening on Church Street, live music, kids activities, and 2 New years celebrations (one for the kids at 9pm and the finale at midnight).
First Night Harrisonburg - It's all fun and games in Court Square, downtown Harrisonburg, then head to the Farmer's Market/Municipal Parking Lot for the spectacular Fireworks display.
First Night Warrenton - Head to downtown for all the entertainment. At midnight there is a Grand Illumination at the old Court house, with candles and singing to bring in the new year.
