For some laid back luxury, St Lucia is another top quality Caribbean new years eve destination. With the timing being almost perfect, as new year falls around the start of the annual dry season, this attracts large numbers of visitorss to the island, with cruise ships in particular a source of large visitor numbers.
The island itself is the archetypal tropical paradise, with white sand beaches, glorious clear turquoise sea and waving palm trees. There are a number of top sights here to make the most of your visit, with the world famous twin peaks of the Pitons a particular favourite, while the Sulphur Springs in Soufriere, the Botanical Gardens and Pigeon Island National Park with the famous Fort Rodney are all well worth a visit.
Top Parties & Events
In terms of new year activities, most of the top resorts will host their own private parties, so if you are booked into one of the islands many top hotels then they are your first port of call as most will be hosting private parties, often including beach celebrations and fireworks.
For locals and visitors alike, the area around Gros Islet and Rodney Bay is the hub for the most lively new year parties, with spontaneous street parties common among the region's many bars and restaurants.
Popular places to head for in Rodney Bay include Spinnakers Restaurant & Beach Bar and Bay Gardens Beach Resort and Spa, both are located close to the beach to watch the Gros Islet new year fireworks.
If you're staying in the Soufriere region, then the Sugar Beach Resort and the Ladera Resort are the places to head for, both venues normally host great new year celebrations with dinner, dancing and live music.
In Vieux Fort, there is usually a party with dinner and music followed by fireworks at the Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa.
