Oh what bliss, New Years Eve in Nassau, where you can go from
lazing on the beach in the morning to full on Junkanoo and new years
celebrations in the evening. This idyllic location found on the New
Providence Island in the Bahamas is a magnet for those looking to
indulge in some stunning weather with thousands of tourists
alighting from the many cruise ships that come into Nassau Harbour.
This is a very popular holiday destination and has attracted many a famous face over the years, with celebrities such as Beyonce and Jay Z, Kevin Hart, Serena Williams, Aaron Paul gracing it’s hotels and beaches and it also has its fair share of famous property owners too including Sean Connery and Johnny Depp, so you’re in good company!
With white sand beaches and the crystal clear water it’s a perfect place for scuba divers and snorkelling fans, for the culture buffs there’s the Pirates of Nassau museum and the National Art Gallery and if you like a tipple or two of rum then there’s the John Walting’s Distillery to visit.
Be prepared to get crazy for new years eve in Nassau, grab your
costume and head to Bay Street and Shirley Street for the famous
Junkanoo, a traditional Bahamian celebration that takes over the
city, with masquerade street performers, music, big Mardi Gras style
parade and fireworks over Nassau harbour that will set the sky
alight over this slice of paradise. Junaknoo tends to start after
midnight and goes on throughout the night until around 10am. There
will be bleachers to sit on but these are ticketed but you can watch
for free just standing in the street!
The city will be packed with people so get there early so you can get a decent spot to enjoy the festivities.
There will be fireworks all over the city and many people also head on over to Marina Village for their pyrotechnics and great party atmosphere.
The hotel resorts in Nassau put on grand events that all the family can enjoy, many have their own fireworks displays, great entertainment, including famous artists, and a fantastic party atmosphere that’s heightened by this gorgeous location.
The bars and restaurants will be buzzing and will book up quickly so it’s best to get your tickets and reservations made well in advance.
