Cheyenne host a very popular new years eve ball drop party, with crowds gathering in the town's central Depot Plaza to welcome the new year in style.
Cheyenne isn't a place you might ordinarily associate with a big new year event, but the ball drop here has been taking place for several years and continues to grow in popularity, with crowds of thousands braving the cold to watch the ball drop.
There are plenty of attractions to keep you occupied if you are spending some time here over the holidays, the famous Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum in particular is well worth a look.
Cheyenne Ball Drop
The big new year event in Cheyenne is of course the ball drop. The ball drop itself takes place at midnight at Civic Commons Park outside the Municipal Building and is the culmination of a whole day of entertainment that usually gets underway at 3pm in the afternoon with a variety of activities for the kids and continues throughout the evening.
There is a 6pm ball drop and fireworks show for the families with younger kids. With the main event kicking off around 11.45pm. Full details once announced will be here.
